2021 Rain Barrel Sale
The Washburn Neighborhood Association held another successful sale of rain barrels in 2021, at the Washburn Neighborhood Gardens, on DIVISION Street (between 9TH Street South and 10TH Street South.)
Fully functional rain barrels with all hardware installed sold for $40.00. Fully functional painted rain barrels with all hardware installed sold for $60.00.
2021 Winter Food Gap Drive
The Washburn Neighborhood Association partnered with Lincoln Middle School to help support 50 students and their families during the winter months.

The Washburn Garden Expo was a resounding success for another year! With over 300 visitors and a variety of excellent exhibitors and presentations, it was an great experience for visitors, volunteers, and exhibitors alike!

“Come join Neighbors and friends as you shake off those winter blues and get ready for spring! The Washburn Garden Expo is a free event featuring Exhibitors, a Light Luncheon, Door Prizes, Healthy Cooking Demonstrations from Mayo Clinic’s Mobile Teaching Kitchen, and a Silent Auction featuring Rain Barrels painted by local artists and organizations. New this year is a fresh layout with an expanded Exhibit Hall and Exhibitor presentations every half hour. This event is open to the public and family friendly.”

The La Crosse Neighborhood Associations welcome residents to the Family Social – Fall in Love with Your Neighborhood, under the Copeland Park Oktoberfest Shelter on Saturday, October 13th from 2-4pm.
Building on last year’s successful event, this annual FREE event is a special celebration of efforts by all the neighborhood associations and residents to revitalize and improve La Crosse neighborhoods. Further success depends on building valuable relationships and what better way than to play, snack, craft, & socialize with children & families that represent the future of La Crosse. This year’s event will also include two annual awards presented by the La Crosse Neighborhood Associations for exceptional contributions neighborhood revitalization: the Sara Sullivan Award—in recognition of outstanding leadership by a La Crosse resident and the NEW Jerilyn Dinsmoor Award—in recognition of outstanding teamwork by a La Crosse group, team or organization.
The Family Social is an opportunity to socialize with and showcase the involved leaders, businesses, City of La Crosse departments & organizations that are lifting La Crosse up higher and higher such as Habitat for Humanity & ReNEW, Hunger Task Force, the La Crosse County Family Collaborative, City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry, City of La Crosse Libraries, La Crosse Promise, Bikers Against Child Abuse, WisCorps, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, UW-Extension, & City Of La Crosse Community Development. Of course, a neighborhood event would not be complete without firefighters with equipment from the La Crosse Fire Department and officers with vehicles from the La Crosse Police Department to experience.
There will be a bountiful harvest for attendees:
· coloring and crafts that highlight our awesome neighborhoods,
· over 18 carnival-style games with small prizes and sweets for participants,
· seasonal items given away, like colorful gourds, apples and Kane St garden items,
· treats such Queen Anne apples, popcorn & Sweet Shop candy.
And you can enter on-going drawings for over 20 local, neighborhood businesses such as:
· gift cards to Global Grounds, Mark Jewelers, Pearl Street Brewery, Ardie’s, Northland Golf & Ski, Root Down Yoga, Pogreba’s, The Sweet Shop, Sloopy’s, Jump Start, The Eagle’s Nest, Shenanigans and more;
· baskets including La Crosse Loggers tickets, Gundersen Health gifts, and a Washburn Garden rain barrel;
· grand prizes including Morrie’s Auto Detail, a local hotel stay and the Bluffview Vacation Rental.

By popular demand, we’re happy to share Randy Magno’s chili recipe, which was served at the Expo. This chili is easy to make, and it’s perfect for keeping warm and full during our unpredictable spring weather. (:
Randy Magno’s Chili (Vegetarian)
Ingredients:
1 16 oz can butter beans
1 16 oz can black beans
1 16 oz can navy beans
1 16 oz can pinto beans
1 16 oz can light red kidney beans
1 16 oz can dark red kidney beans
1 large can Bush’s Vegetarian Baked Beans
2 16 oz cans petit cut tomatoes
2 packets of chili seasoning
1 packet frozen okra
Directions:
Pour beans, tomatoes, seasoning, and okra into a large pot. Rinse cans with water, and add to pot. Add an extra can or two of water. Bring to a boil, and serve or refrigerate overnight.
